A gas chromatograph (GC) is an analytical instrument that measures the content of various components in a sample. The analysis performed by a gas chromatograph is called gas chromatography. 

Since our first Gas Chromatograph (GC) was introduced in 1956, Shimadzu has been developing innovative Gas Chromatography solutions. Nexis GC-2030

Maintenance and ease of use have never been simpler with the Nexis GC-2030.  With features like a full color, touchscreen display, tool-free maintenance, and the ability to use alternative carrier gases, operators have never been more in control. System can be configured with multiple inlets and detectors including the new SCD-2030 detector.

GC-2010 Pro

The GC-2010 Pro represents a new generation in Routine GC. Fast oven heating and cooling reduces the analysis time and allow high sample throughput. Based on GC-2010 Plus technology, it combines easy operation with efficient analysis and excellence in sensitivity and precision.


The GC-2014 is made to run when put through harsh conditions. With it's compact size and versatility, it can be used for everything from routine QA/QC work to specialty applications. Using everything from capillary to packed inlets, columns, and detectors, the GC-2014 is our most customizable unit available.


Shimadzu's GC-2025 capillary gas chromatograph minimizes environmental impact by reducing power and carrier gas consumption while retaining the performance capabilities required for capillary analysis.

GC Sample Introduction Options

AOC-20 Liquid Sample Injection System

There is automation to fit any budget. The AOC-20i autoinjector can be used for a few samples or many when combined with the AOC-20s autosampler carousel.

AOC-6000 Plus

The AOC-6000 Plus Multifunctional Autosampler enables various syringes injections, including liquid injection, headspace (HS) injection, and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) injection. The automatic syringe exchange RTC (Robotic Tool Changer) function enables continuous sample injection using different syringes. By combining with the Twin Line MS system, different analytical methods such as SPME and HS can be performed continuously without changing the column.

HS-10 Headspace Injection System

A cost-effective HS-10 headspace sampler offers a smaller carousel and loop mode sampling, great for routine laboratory work.

HS-20 Headspace Injection System

With both loop and loop/trap models, the HS-20 dedicated headspace sampler is an optimal solution for analyzing a wide range of volatile organic components (VOC) in a variety of sample matrices. Perfect for use with either GC or GC-MS.

TD-30 Thermal Desorption Unit

The TD-30 is the optimal solution for gas and materials analysis. Its outstanding processing ability and excellent expandability provides strong support for all types of analysis, for example measuring air quality in buildings, VOC of interior car materials or even odors in packaging.

Optic-4 Multimode Inlet

Offering multiple modes of injection including ultra-fast heating and large-volume injection, the Optic-4 can easily accommodate a wide variety of applications.

Frontier Lab Pyrolyzer

Not all GC and GCMS samples can be liquid or gas, sometimes solids like plastics need to be analyzed. Using the PY-3030 operators can characterize virtually any organic material, from biomass to synthetic polymers using single- or dual-stage pyrolysis. The system comes equipped to run multiple techniques including Evolved Gas (EGA), Single-shot Analysis (PY) and many more.

Advanced Chromatography Techniques

Switching Detector System

This Gas Chromatograph uses a switching element at the column outlet to direct separated target compounds into multiple, appropriate detectors without a loss in sensitivity.

Backflushing System

The backflush gas chromatography system discharges high-boiling point components efficiently through the injection port split vent to reduce analysis time, and prevent column deterioration and detector contamination.

Heart-Cut System

The heart cutting system uses two chromatographic columns with different separation characteristics to separate specific compounds from complex original samples for quantitation. It can achieve high separation analysis which cannot be achieved
 by single chromatographic column.

Detector Splitting System

This system splits compounds eluting from an analytical column to multiple detectors to obtain multiple chromatograms, saving laboratories time and money.

Comprehensive GCxGC System

Shimadzu’s GC x GC offers about 10 times greater peak capacity of conventional one-dimensional chromatography, allowing separation of overlapping peaks based on differences in polarity.


The multi dimensional heart cutting gas chromatography system, incorporates a “multi Deans switch” The “multi Deans switch” greatly increases separation power and simplifies the normally difficult separation and quantification of compounds in complex, multi-component samples.
